Madison Kittens Deck

Ellusionist

GRANDMA'S FULLY MARKED GAFF-DECK

Scenario 1. You're on your way to a gig and you've forgotten your deck. Maybe your dog ate it?

What do you do?

Answer. You stop off at your Grandma's house and grab an old deck from the drawer. At least, that's your story.

Madison Kittens are a marked, GAFFED-deck in ultimate stealth mode.

Ever had a spectator ask "Are those just regular cards? Or are they special?" ... Yeah us too.

With the Kittens deck you'll never be asked that again. Completely unassuming in design, but devastating in function. Even if you told them the truth they wouldn't believe you.

  • Normal deck of 52 cards for regular magic effects.
  • Angle Z Gimmick
  • Duplicate card... you know why.
  • Monte Gimmick
  • Fully. Freaking. Marked.

This deck allows you to open with the ultimate ice-breaker (a hilariously bad 'cat' deck), but close with the power of 10,000 panthers riding unicorns through your spectators head.

Mind = blown.

A deck just like Grandma used to make.

This is a great stock. You can do things with these cards right out of the box like they've already been broken in. Just like Rounders. But lets be real. If your buying these you're getting them for the art. These cards are an attention puller and conversation starter. The attention is 95% positive. Any nay sayers will be shut down buy your card mechanics.

I got this deck as a Christmas present and was immediately excited. I love the way these cards feel. They're incredibly thin but also very durable. They are a dream to faro even after some extensive use. I plan to buy a brick of these. I love cats, so that's a bonus. The marking system needs some work. It was designed for when dealing you'd be able to read what card it is, but even then I find it can be difficult to read the marking. The text is too small and while I understand why it's small, it also makes it a large hassle. Overall this is a fantastic deck and 99% of tricks don't need marked cards so you can definitely use these for most tricks. I LOVE this deck.

My Nan actually was a bit of a card shark (bridge, euchre, and gin rummy. Notable mention: hustling my brother and I out of 20c each in a very high stakes Blackjack game) back in her day and although she didn't have a deck that was anything other than functional, I reckon she would have been stoked that these cards are marked so she could cheat better.

I'm trying to make these look really worn so I can use them in a film as an old deck but your bloody excellent card quality is making this kind of hard. Not one single bent corner so far and I've been throwing them onto the floor and everything. 10/10

My wife got this for me as a stocking stuffer. I'm picky when it comes to card design while I'm performing. I also hate cats.. and pink. Despite all this deck had against my personal preferences... OMG. The stock is everything I have ever wanted in a deck of playing cards. This deck became my go to for performing. The look even grew on me... wtf! I will be getting as many bricks of these things as I can. And E.. please make us some angle z refills for this deck!!

I have been looking for a deck that I can consistently use at gigs and events that have everything I wanted: markings, good stock, gaff cards, etc. This deck is perfect for me. It has all the bells and whistles and it is the most unassuming deck I have owned. Not one person has questioned weather the deck is special in any shape or form.

My only complaint is the markings are a little small, and reading them in low light can be a little tricky. Other than that, this is my new go-to deck for almost everything. Good job DM

Of course I had to grab a brick of Madison and E's newest "Kittens" deck, absolute genius!

I love the premise and the deceptive nature of why this deck was produced. Definitely looks like something pulled from nan's drawer, and the distressed look built in adds to the visual deception. Traditional cut has these faroing beautifully straight out of the box, and the finish is smooth and controllable. The crushed stock is a nice touch, giving this deck a great feel even before working them over out of the box.

I do have a few issues however which I'll share here:

- Daniel, these are NOT a speedreader deck in any way. Speed reader-esque in that it's not dots or patterns, perhaps, but unless one is rocking a perfect 20/20 or better in the vision dept, it is difficult to see the markings without a squint or telltale dwelling on looking at the deck while dealing. The marks are VERY small, but clear, if you can see them. NOT a speedreader IMHO.

- The distressing is a great idea, and nicely done here adding to the deception, and looks great card by card. However, do a table spread and the exact same distressing on each card SCREAMS faked antiquing as the distressed pattern can be seen from across the room.

Both of these issues are of course a personal preference issue, and some who are blessed with great vision may find these are indeed "speedread" capable.

All that said, these are worth every penny and I do love them. I would suggest getting VERY familiar with them before breaking out with them intending to use the marks or table spreading the deck. I have another 6 decks on the way, I love em that much!

Thanks again to E, DM, and everyone who brought this deck to fruition, I love the idea behind it and it will serve me very well in its intended use!

I really like the self-deprecating quality of the deck. It is potentially disarming to let your spectators know you don't take yourself too seriously and then overdeliver on your presentation. I too was disappointed with the markings as I found them unusable. If I would have bought the cards without the expectation or them having usable markings, I would have rated these cards 5 stars. My other recommendation would be to lose the faux-vintage discoloring as it looks more 'faux' than 'vintage'. The discoloring doesn't add to their believability as a 'normal' deck. They handle beautifully, though, and are a joy to faro. I really like the concept. Hopefully future runs will have a more usable marking system.?

I don't regret buying the deck. It looks funny, it handles awesome. However, the marking system is not perfect. Sometimes you can misread the mark even with good lighting. Also, in my opinion, having a double backer would would be more practical than having this double face card.
And I LOVE that this deck actually has two 9s.
